  • Kaspa Weekly #11 - A week after Crescendo, New Wallet, $10,000 Marketing Fund

Kaspa Weekly #11 - A week after Crescendo, New Wallet, $10,000 Marketing Fund   GM Kaspians! Welcome to the eleventh release of Kaspa Weekly! It's been a week since the Crescendo upgrade activated already, time sure does go fast! Today we'll talk about the after effects of Crescendo, such as the ability for home miners to solo mine now, we'll tell you about Igra Labs' presence on ETHDenver and tell you about a new wallet in the ecosystem from the authors of Kasway, Atomik Wallet. Lastly, we'll share an opportunity to get your Kaspa marketing initiative funded. Below you'll find a short summary 🚀 The Crescendo Week 📷 Igra Labs at ETHDam 💳 Atomik Wallet 🏦 The $10,000 marketing fund The Crescendo Week 🚀   It's been a week since the Crescendo upgrade activated, and the network appears to be running properly. The increase in block production rate has brought some benefits, that might not be visible at first sight. One of those benefits is the ability for home miners to solo mine. Previously, at 1 BPS it was very hard for a home miner possessing a small hashrate to mine on their own confidently, as hitting a block was rare, because of the competition. Now, that 10 times more blocks are produced per seconds, in theory home miners have 10 times as many chances to hit a block. Sure, the reward is 10 times smaller as well, but this allows them to mine with confidence and significantly higher chances of getting a reward, instead of relying on a mining pool that shares their profits. If you're thinking about transitioning to solo mining yourself, check out the Kaspa Solo Mining Simulator developed by coderofstuff to check how the hard fork could impact your earnings. After entering the necessary information, you will get a snapshot of your expected mining output. Igra Labs at ETHDam 📷 This past Friday, folks over from Igra Labs have attended the ETHDam event. Even better, they (more specifically, Pavel Emdin) moderated a panel titled "Rollup Architecture and Comparative Analysis of Sequencer Approaches". The speakers include people from teams over at 0xBow, Aztec Labs or Citrea. We couldn't find any recording at the time of writing, if you'd like to watch the panel, be on the lookout on Igra's X Account. Atomik Wallet 💳 Say hello to a yet another solution to store your precious Kaspa coins. Atomik Wallet is developed by the same people that have worked on Kasway, which we talked about in our fifth release. It's a multi-platform wallet, originally made because of technical issues when integrating Kaspium in Kasway. The wallet focuses on beginner friendly UI and UX, which allows non technical users to use the wallet without any problems. It's still under heavy development, therefore some features might not be available yet. You can view the progress and the wallet's source code (yes! it's open source!) on their GitHub. The $10,000 marketing fund 🏦 On May 9th, one of Kaspa's Ambassadors, Luke has shared that a Kaspa community member has committed $10,000 USDT to fund a marketing initiative for Kaspa. The way these funds get spend will be decided by the community. The community quickly flooded the Discord channel with their thoughts and ideas on how to best use these funds to benefit Kaspa. If you have an idea yourself or you'd like to read the full announcement, it's available on the #votes-and-funding-discussions channel on the Kaspa discord server. That's it for this release! We hope you've enjoyed it! As always, thank you for reading and see you next week! 👋 Unsubscribe    View in browser

  • Kaspa Weekly #8 - Crescendo LIVE, Kaspa Commons, The Deepdive

Kaspa Weekly #8 - Crescendo LIVE, Kaspa Commons, The Deepdive   Hey Kaspians! Welcome to the tenth release of Kaspa Weekly! This anniversary release is released on the exact same day as one of Kaspa's most important events happened, the long awaited and highly anticipated Crescendo Hard Fork activation, which of course we will cover in this newsletter. On top of that, we'll tell you about a new community-centric Kaspa focused channel on X, Kaspa Commons and talk about the first episode of Shai's The Deepdive. Here's a short summary: 🚀 Crescendo LIVE on Mainnet 🌎 Kaspa Commons 🎬 The Kaspa Deepdive Crescendo LIVE on Mainnet 🚀 You heard that right! The Crescendo Upgrade is officially here! Around the originally estimated time (15:00 UTC, May 5th) all nodes running the latest version of Rusty Kaspa got greeted with the legendary message, "Crescendo 1 bps -> 10 bps", after which the network started adjusting to produce 10 blocks per second. The upgrade went extremely smoothly and no downtime occurred.  Of course, the community did not stay indifferent of this event, countdowns and parties in various places were hosted. Starting with X, the weekly Blockchain Banter hosted by Levendi and Chris was moved a couple hours back so that it happened around the hard fork activation date. In total, nearly 2,000 listeners tuned in! If you'd like to listen to the final countdown, you can view the replay here, and skip to 59:55. Next up, Kaspa Silver hosted a watch party on Youtube, 2 minutes from the activation time, almost 1,300 viewers were there! Skip to 1:28:30 to see the exact moment the hard fork went live! On top of that, people on Kaspa's Discord server gathered to celebrate this breath taking moment together. But keep in mind, Crescendo does not only reduce the block time from 1 second to 100 milliseconds. It also brings other amazing additions to the network, such as enabling payloads for transactions. None of this would have been possible without the over 2 years effort from core developers. Congratulations! Below you'll find a picture of Michael Sutton (taken by Yonatan Sompolinsky himself) watching the network after the upgrade activated, must've been a stressful moment haha And of course, we couldn't not share the exact moment in which the activation happened. Kaspa Commons 🌎 Volunteered, managed by Chad Ballantyne (also knows as Rhubarbarian), and the team at Rhubarb Media, Kaspa Commons is a new channel that focuses on real world impacts of Kaspa, because Kaspa isn't just the technology and upgrades, it's also how these innovations impact everyday life.  A collaborative group of experienced researchers, writers, communications experts and ambassadors will be formed with a mission to spotlight the benefits, people and the adoption journey of Kaspa. On their X account they already shared multiple posts about Kaspa's Adoption, and of course about the Crescendo Upgrade 😎 If you'd like to check them out, you can find them under the @Kaspa_Commons handle on X. The Kaspa Deepdive 🎬 In our last release we've talked about Shai's upcoming show, the Kaspa Deepdive focusing on explaining various aspects of Kaspa, and why it's a uniquely powerful cryptocurrency. On Monday, just 21 hours shy of the hard fork activation (notice how many things happened right around that date 👀) Shai announced the first episode on his X account. This episode focuses on three important consequences of high blocks per second. The mining decentralization, internet-fast transaction confirmation, and multi-leader consensus. [At the time of writing] the video already gathered over 2,000 views on YouTube, and you can find it here. Great job Shai! We're excited to see more content from the Kaspa Deepdive 😉 That's it for this release! Time goes fast, and we dropped 10 releases of Kaspa Weekly already, and we're excited for the future! We hope you enjoyed it! As always, thank you for reading and see you next week! 👋 The information presented in this newsletter is for informational and educational purposes only. • Kaspa Weekly #9 - Crescendo Countdown, Kaspa's Use Cases, The Deepdive

Kaspa Weekly #9 - Crescendo Countdown, Kaspa's Use Cases, The Deepdive   Hello Kaspians! Welcome to the ninth release of Kaspa Weekly! Due to the easter holidays. less things happened in the ecosystem last week. Because of that, this release will be shorter, nevertheless most certainly not a boring one! Today, we'll continue our Crescendo Upgrade Activation countdown and share some insights about how many nodes already upgraded to the latest version of Rusty Kaspa, talk about Kaspa's Use Cases and tell you about Shai Wyborski's new show, the Kaspa Deepdive. Below you'll find a short summary. 🚀 Crescendo in less than 7 days 🛍️ Kaspa's Use Cases 🎬 The Kaspa Deepdive Crescendo in less than 7 days 🚀 You heard that right! One of the most anticipated upgrades is coming to Kaspa in less than seven days! At the time of writing, approximately 582,000 blocks remain until activation, which translates to around 6 days and 17 hours. The projected activation time is May 5th at 3PM UTC. If you still don't know what the Crescendo upgrade brings to Kaspa, this post by Michael Sutton is a good read. One of Rusty Kaspa's developers, coderofstuff shared that 90% of blocks on mainnet came from nodes running the crescendo-upgrade version, v1.0.0, this means at the time of writing, over 90% of the network's hashrate supports the upgrade, and the remaining operators such as f2pool, WhalePool and Mara Holdings are in the process of upgrading. A day before the hard fork happens, nodes running the version v1.0.0 will not connect to nodes that run the older version due to the protocol version update. Kaspa's Use Cases 🛍️ Kastle's Kaspa Mondays recently talked about the mystical phrase of "Is Kaspa the Future?" Alongside other topics, they talked about Kaspa's Use Cases, the ecosystem, the challenges and uncertainties. If you'd like to read more, check out their article! Today on Kaspa Weekly, we'll talk about the use cases. Real-World Applications Kaspa is the perfect candidate for everyday transactions, from grocery shopping, paying a friend for a cup of coffee to sending money worldwide without any restrictions. One of the biggest drawbacks when using traditional cryptocurrencies are the slow transaction confirmation times and high fees. Kaspa's high throughput, fast confirmation times and insanely cheap transaction fees make it the perfect candidate for everyday use. Institutional and Financial Applications Trading often requires near-instant execution times on a huge amount of transactions every single minute, scalability is key. Services like lending platforms or exchanges share similar requirements, low latency and instant settlement is a necessity. Yet again, Kaspa makes the perfect choice here. Despite no support for smart contracts for use cases like decentralized finance platforms on Layer 1, the upcoming Layer 2 solutions from teams at Igra Labs and Kasplex will soon open these doors and enable DeFi on Kaspa. The Kaspa Deepdive 🎬 One of GhostDAG's co-authors, Shai Wyborski announced his new show, the Kaspa Deepdive. As the name suggests, the show will focus on explaining various aspects of Kaspa (there you go, yet another resource to learn more about the amazing tech behind the world's most best cryptocurrency 😉). The first episode is not out yet, but if you'd like to watch couple-minute long snippets from it, you can find it on The Deepdive YouTube Channel. Personally, we really enjoyed the snippets, and we're excited to see the whole episode live soon 😎. That's it for this release! We hope you've enjoyed it! Today, we'll tell you what the Kaspa Industrial Initiative (KII) is working on, share some sneak peeks from Zealous Swap, and introduce the new Kaspa Ecosystem Foundation Grantee - Eliott, and tell you about the Layer 2 Kasplex is building. Here's a summary of we will be covering today. 💼 The Kaspa Industrial Initiative and what they're working on 🔗 The Kasplex ZkEVM 🧠 Kaspa Ecosystem's Foundation New Grantee 🛍 Zealous Swap, Kaspa's first DEX 👩‍💻 Kastle Wallet Ledger and KRC20 Support Kaspa Industrial Initiative 💼 The Kaspa Industrial Initiative aims to unlock new levels of transparency, speed, and security for industrial and enterprise applications. Despite not sharing many updates recently, they've been working on a lot of stuff behind the scenes 👀. To mention a few: - a CRM system to manage 3rd parties and partners, - mapping key US stakeholders located in DC for a visit, SEC submission drafts papers- payments institution licensing research for both Warpcore / Gigawatt, - calls to set up a speaking slot at COP30 in Brazil - regulatory / monetary policy / economic modelling around stablecoins for whitepaper and architecture They are laying the groundwork (meetings, lobbying, pitches) for when smart contracts are ready, and they can then help plug it all into Tradfi, DeFi, IoT and DePIN markets with Powered by Kaspa solutions. Kasplex ZkEVM 🔗 Last week we've talked about the Layer 2 Igra Labs is building, but they're not the only ones building a Layer 2 in the space.  Kasplex, the people behind KRC-20 are building a zero-knowledge, EVM compatible Layer 2 that operates as a based ZK rollup, leveraging Kaspa's consensus sequencing to provide programmability and complex logical zones, while maintaining its high throughput and security. If you're curious about the details, Kaspador explained the details in a presentation. Recently, they've announced that a devnet is live, and that a public testnet will go live at a later date. If you'd like to experiment with their devnet, they provided a registration form in one of their twitter posts. On March 12, KEF announced that Eliott will join as a researcher, being the second grantee after FreshAir08. Eliott's research will focus on three main areas. He will develop a more accurate and up-to-date model of oracles in DeFi, investigate existing failure points in oracles and analyze how they're being manipulated by MEV strategies. He will also design a solution to the oracle problem to improve security, efficiency, and reliability in blockchain systems. (source) Recently, he was chosen to speak at the Web3 Amsterdam conference to explain how Kaspa generalizes the Nakamoto Consensus. Zealous Swap 🛍 The folks over at Zealous Swap are building the first AMM DEX, which will be launched on the Igra Labs L2, it's still in the development phase, but we've got a chance to test it. Everything works smoothly, and the UI is simple, and intuitive.  To learn more about what they're building, you can read their whitepaper and the post by Kaspa Daily, which dive deeper into the mission and technical details. Thanks to the team for letting us a take a look at the application, we're excited to see it live! (psst! At the end of the newsletter, we've shared a couple of screenshots from the dapp 😉) Kastle Wallet Updates 🏰 The version 2.7.0 of Kastle was released this week, packing a bunch of amazing features! Foremost, they added a Ledger integration. At the moment, it only supports Kaspa, but support for KRC-20 tokens is coming soon. Secondly, alongside regular transfer operations, the wallet now supports minting and deploying KRC-20 tokens. You can view the full changelog for more details. Summary 📜 The incredible things KII is working on behind the scenes, another Kaspa Layer 2 and the first AMM DEX, quite an exciting week!. • Kaspa Weekly #2 - Crescendo LIVE on Testnet, Innovation Award, Igra Labs

Kaspa Weekly #2 - Crescendo LIVE on Testnet, Innovation Award, Igra Labs   GM Kaspians! Welcome to the second release of Kaspa Weekly! Today, we've got some exciting news for you, from even more options to store your precious coins to Kaspa's appearance on yet another event, here's a more detailed list of what we'll be covering today. 👨‍💻 Crescendo upgrade success on Testnet 10 🏔 The tales of the Igra Labs L2 🌎 Kaspa on Next Block Expo in Warsaw 🏆 Kaspa wins the Best Blockchain Innovation Award 📱 Kastle and Kaspian wallets Crescendo on Testnet 10 🥳 March 6th, 6:13PM, it's so silent you can hear your heart beating. Everyone is waiting for the highly anticipated transition to 10 blocks per second. You watch the countdown, 3…2…1, and a big message appears on your screen. From now on, the network produces 10 blocks per second. Everything went as planned, the transition was successful, marking a pivotal milestone in the Kaspa history. This was most certainly a very stressful event for our amazing Rusty Kaspa developers, Michael Sutton, coderofstuff, Ori Newman, to name a few. However, it's not just the core developers, it's also the community that ran their testnet nodes and over 70 different miners that mined blocks on the test network, truly shows how strong the Kaspa community is! The Tales of Igra Labs 🏔 In our last release, we've mentioned that Igra Labs is building a programmable layer on top of the Kaspa Blockchain, let's dive deeper into that. The story begins late January, when Igra Labs created their social accounts and announced their mission in the official Kaspa Discord. Their goal was to create an EVM-compatible Layer 2 on Kaspa with a canonical bridge, a fast probabilistic finality and support for high throughput (3000 transactions per second and more), aiming to be the first based ZK rollup on Kaspa. With blockchain industry veterans and people involved in Kaspa's creation (DAGLabs alumni), the team meant business. The name Igra, comes from the word Rooftop in Aramaic, which symbolized their vision of creating a unifying layer under which various, decentralized systems can operate together smoothly. Technically speaking, they're creating a ZK rollup with atomic composability, which utilizes Kaspa's DAG as a decentralized sequencer. All of that is secured by Kaspa's hash power of over 1 EH/s, which ensures network security. EVM compatibility makes migrating existing products from other networks significantly easier, and it also provides a low entry barrier for people already familiar with development on Ethereum or similar chains. They plan to implement mechanisms to protect against MEV. Looking further ahead, they want to leverage Kaspa's planned support for synchronous atomic composability and allow various virtual machine systems to operate with each other. For example, Solana VM, Move or WASM interacting with each other seamlessly across different Layer 2's. They plan to launch an invite-only devnet by the end of March, and the mainnet launch will follow a few months after. Best Blockchain Innovation 🏆 In our last release, we've talked about Kaspa's presence at Crypto Expo Europe, which most certainly did not go unnoticed with things like Kaspa-branded napkins or coffee cups.  One of the exposition's 2025 awards went to Kaspa, titled the Best Blockchain Innovation. Without a doubt, this is a well deserved award considering all of Kaspa's features (MENTION KASPA ELEVEN) like the revolutionary Phantom GhostDAG consensus, good energy efficiency compared to traditional blockchains and an efficient pruning strategy! (Kudos to Kaspador for the picture 😉) Kaspa on Next Block Expo in Warsaw 🇵🇱 One of Kaspa's Ambassadors, Maja, will be attending the Next Block Expo event happening in Warsaw. She will be speaking about the features of Kaspa, and how the Kaspa Tech (DLT) will benefit the planet via enterprise market use-case, most certainly a good speech to listen to! However, that's not everything 👀. Kaspa is a nominee for the Pioneering Crypto Technologies Award, competing with OnlyBestMiners, Kryptonim and Green Mining DAO, the winner will be announced on March 20th at 5:30 PM. Personally, we think the winner is obvious 😉 New Kaspa Wallets 🏦 Say hello to two more non-custodial solutions to store your precious Kaspa, Kastle and Kaspian. Let's dive deeper into each of them. Kastle 🏰 Kastle is your gateway to Kaspa. With an intuitive and user-friendly design and a quick setup, this wallet is most certainly a good way to get started in the Kaspa world. It's created by the folks over at Forbole. With Kaspa Name System (KNS) support and an upcoming KRC20 integration, it's your place for everything Kaspa. Kaspian 🤖 Kaspian is the most compact way to use your Kaspa elegantly. Built by KaffinPX and iMalFect, the wallet is focused on security by reducing dependencies to the minimum, while featuring a built-in provider API for easy integration in DApps. Summary 📜 Ten blocks per second, the blockchain innovation award, and new wallets. This most certainly was an exciting week for Kaspa. Thank you for reading this week's release of Kaspa Weekly, see you next week! 👋 The information presented in this newsletter is for informational and educational purposes only.
